August 9, 2018: Thirteen caring donors stepped forward as “Summer Heroes” and gave a pint of blood at the August “OneBlood” Drive sponsored by the GFWC Rotonda West Woman’s Club. A goal of 8 pints was surpassed. The fully-equipped Big Red Bus was parked in the parking lot at the Community Center.
Donors had the satisfaction of knowing they can save up to three lives with their donation. According to Bloodmobile officials, the 13 pints donated could benefit up to 39 patients.
“Our sincere thanks to each donor,” said Kathryn Gallagher, who coordinated the Bloodmoblie for the Woman’s Club. “There is no greater need than the summer months and the collection will help a critical need,” she added. Kathryn was on hand during the entire drive and greeted and thanked each donor.
Donors didn’t go home empty-handed. They were offered free Beach Towels, as well as a wellness check-up. That included blood pressure, temperature, pulse, iron count and cholesterol screening.
